We are aware that Royal Enfield is creating a new 450cc range. The first model to come under range is the Himalayan 450. Later, more models will make their way like the Scram 450. Himalayan 450 is looking into fixing the things that went wrong with the current 411cc Himalayan. We have spy shots yet again of the Himalayan 450 that was recently spotted. From the spy shots, we can see that the motorcycle looks production-ready. This pretty much means that the launch is imminent. We are expecting a price range of around INR 2.5 lakh. The Himalayan 450 will most likely have improved aesthetics, new equipment and more power and torque as compared to the current model.
Key Expected Features
The motorcycle might also have evolved capabilities for urban streets as well. Some of the key features of the Himalayan 450 might include all-LED lighting, a fully digital instrument console and USD front forks. As of now, none of the existing single-cylinder Royal Enfield motorcycles benefit from these features. Other highlights of the Himalayan 450 include raised front beak, a compact windscreen, a large radiator at the front, a rugged engine guard, upmarket switchgear and a new brake fluid reservoir. The motorcycle also gets rally-style foot pegs for improved traction in slippery conditions. Rubber inserts will come as standard fitment for foot pegs. This will allow riders to customise based on their riding preferences.
Ergonomics And More
In terms of ergonomics, the motorcycle gets a fairly upright stance. It seems like just as tall as the current model. But the Himalayan 450’s scooped seat will help improve balance and handling. With the raised handlebar and elevated front section, riders will find it easy to ride effortlessly standing up on the footpegs. Even the shorter-height riders should not have any major issues riding the Himalayan 450.
Engine And Mechanical Highlights
As of now, the official engine specs are not yet out. But we assume that the Himalayan 450 can deliver around 35 BHP of max power and 40 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, the existing Himalayan uses a 411cc engine that makes 24.3 BHP and 32 Nm. Himalayan 450 could get a 6-speed gearbox. Thus it can benefit from enhanced cruising capabilities, improved fuel efficiency and higher top speed. The existing Himalayan gets a 5-speed gearbox and offers a fuel efficiency of 33.33 kmpl.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Himalayan 450 has USD front forks as seen in the spy shots. This a first for a single-cylinder Royal Enfield motorcycle. Talking of the tyres, it can get 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. This is the exact same setup as the current Himalayan. We see that the motorcycle gets spoke wheels, with disk brakes at both ends. Dual-channel ABS will likely come in as a standard fitment. It can also get switchable functionality for the rear wheel.
