Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 based Flat Track 450 version revealed

Royal Enfield could be building a flat track motorcycle based on the new Himalayan 450. Pictures of the flat track motorcycle have emerged on the internet showcasing the racing character of the motorcycle. However, the race iteration of the Himalayan 450 is not likely to go into production. Sources report that Royal Enfield is likely to replace the FT411 with the new 450cc version. The new motorcycle is likely to be used on Flat Track competitions.

Royal Enfield Flat Track 450 – Aesthetic Changes

According to pictures, Royal Enfield appears to have removed all unnecessary equipment from the racing motorcycle. The point is to make the motorcycle as light as possible for competitions. In addition to this, removing parts such as mirrors and lights also reduces the risk of injuries due to glass shards in an event of a crash. The Royal Enfield Flat Track 450 motorcycle also appears to come with light weight body panels which are likely to be more functional than aesthetic.

Royal Enfield Flat Track 450 – Mechanical Changes

In terms of mechanical changes, the Flat Track Royal Enfield 450 appears to come with a new front suspension which looks like a right-side up unit. Reports suggest that the new unit also appears to have been borrowed from the upcoming Guerrilla 450 which was spied recently. However we think that this could be a custom-made racing unit either sourced from an OEM or specifically designed for racing.

The front brake assembly also appears to be missing from the flat track motorcycle, as there is no need for the front brake in such an event. Moreover, Royal Enfield is likely to have made changes to the final drive of the motorcycle to change the torque delivery specific to flat track races. The tyres also appear to be different and event specific. Sources say the tyre are from Maxxis, but no branding could be seen in the pictures. The bike is also likely to come with a race exhaust and custom tuning to deliver performance on flat tracks.
