Renowned motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield has announced that it has rolled out 1 lakh+ units of its Classic 350 motorcycle. In September 2021, Royal Enfield launched the next-gen Classic 350, which uses the new JLA platform and replaces the ‘Thunderbird’. The brand sells this bike in India and other countries such as Europe, South Asia, South America, Australia, etc. Since the bike is in heavy demand, customers have no choice but to sit through the long waiting period.
The new Classic 350 uses the J-series engine borrowed from the Meteor 350 with a push-rod valve distribution system. Along with an Over-Head-Cam and a Chain-Time-Gear system, the bike also sports a new cylinder head with oil channels. The 349cc air/oil-cooled single-cylinder motor features an electronic fuel injection system and improved thermal efficiency for better overall performance. Producing 20.2 PS of power and 27 Nm of torque, RE has paired the engine to a 5-speed gearbox.
The Classic 350 continues with its timeless silhouette that has mesmerized and attracted riders from a broad age bracket. The bike retains its round-shaped headlight along with the signature headlamp hood and comes with a new 13-litre fuel tank, along with its hallmark nacelle that houses the headlamp cluster, the bike sports twin marker lamps, and the instrument cluster. Additionally, the Classic 350 features split seats, full fenders, a rounded taillight along with sleeker and refined side boxes.
Royal Enfield offers the bike in 5 variants- Redditch, Halcyon, Signals, Dark, and Chrome, with ‘Redditch’ being the base model. The brand has priced the Redditch at INR 1,84,374 (ex-showroom) and the Halcyon at INR 1,93,123 (ex-showroom). Meanwhile, the Signals costs INR 2,04,367 (ex-showroom) and the Dark costs INR 2,11,465 (ex-showroom). Finally, the top-spec Chrome variant of the Classic 350 costs INR 2,15,118 (ex-showroom).
To keep themselves at the top of their segment, Royal Enfield announced plans to launch one new motorcycle in 4 months. The brand aims to produce and launch 28 new motorcycles in a 7-year period which include numerous models. The brand recently launched the Meteor, the Classic 350, the updated Himalayan, and the revised 650 Twins. The brand will likely update the Bullet/ Electra range by introducing a next-gen platform and launching new motorcycles.
These will likely include the Hunter 350 roadster or the Interceptor 350 motorcycles which are currently undergoing testing. Sources suggest that Royal Enfield will launch the new bikes in 2022 alongside the Himalayan 411 Scram. Other bikes in the brand’s pipeline include the Hunter 350, 650cc Super Meteor Cruiser, and 650cc Shotgun. Royal Enfield recently unveiled the upcoming 650cc twins at the EICMA 2021 motor show in Milan.
