Royal Enfield has launched the new Guerrilla 450 motorcycle in the Indian market. While in a glance the Guerrilla 450 does look like a scrambler motorcycle, however, the company has cleared the air already and announced that in fact the Guerrilla 450 is not a scrambler but a roadster motorcycle. This also means that the Guerrilla 450 now competes with other roadsters and street fighters in the mid-spec segment. And one big contender for the Guerrilla 450 is the KTM 390 Duke. Here we compare the price range and the specifications of the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 against the crowd pleasing KTM 390 Duke, so you can make an informed buying decision.
The KTM 390 Duke comes with a price tag starting INR 3.12 lakh ex-showroom. On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 comes with a price tag starting at INR 2.39 lakh ex-showroom. Even the top of the line Flash variant of the Guerrilla 450 comes with a price tag of INR 2.54 lakh ex-showroom. Even if we compare the price tag of the top-spec Guerrilla 450 with the 390 Duke, the difference is about INR 58,000 on the ex-showroom price.
Powering the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 is a 452cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that develops 40.2 PS of power and 40 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is not only powerful but also has enough grunt to pull off the line with ease. On the other hand, the KTM 390 Duke comes with a 399cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing 46 PS of power and 39 Nm of torque. The short stroke rev happy engine has around 50cc less displacement but makes around 6 PS more and 1 Nm less that the Guerrilla 450.
The Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 comes with a 43mm right-side up front fork suspension along with a link-type rear suspension unit. In addition to this, the Guerrilla 450 also comes with 310mm front disc brake with a two-piston calliper and a 270mm rear disc with a single piston calliper. The 390 Duke gets a 320mm front disc with 4-piston opposed callipers on the front and a 240mm rear disc with a single piston calliper. Both the motorcycles come with features such as a full digital instruments cluster, but the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 also comes with integrated Google Maps and smartphone connectivity.
