Royal Enfield launched the Himalayan a few years back, but that bike was haunted with niggles, and even after the brand did well to rectify all the issues, the sentiment towards the Himalayan never really became very positive. Seems like Royal Enfield made note of this, and have worked on two new variants based on their popular Bullet 350 & Bullet 500 bikes.
We first saw spyshots a few months back, and a new set of images reveals that these upcoming Scrambler-esque models from Royal Enfield could be called Bullet Trails 350 & Bullet Trails 500. Now, these could be a limited period only motorcycles, but they seem purpose built for long touring rides.
Images reveal that these bikes will come with a single seat option. For go-anywhere, long distance rideability, the bikes will run on knobby tyres and will also have a metal headlamp cover. The exhaust is upswept to allow the bike to cross paths which might be submerged in water to an extent. The pillion seat is replaced with a carrier where one can load panniers or saddle bags or any of the likes. The indicators and tail lamp looks similar to the old continental GT.
Apart from this, the frame of the Bullet Trail 350 seems to be painted in orange while the Bullet Trails 500 gets it painted in sand / bottle green shade. Both the models are expected to get dual-channel ABS as a standard feature. There is ample use of chrome and typical Royal Enfield livery.
But if these bikes stay on sale for the long term, what happens to the Himalayan?
