Royal Enfield announces Interceptor 650 Lightning variant

Royal Enfield has just announced a new version of the Interceptor 650. The new variant is called the Lighting variant and is only available in the international markets. This is nothing but a modified version of the standard version. However in this case, they are factory accessories. In Europe, this Royal Enfield Interceptor Lightning variant is available from INR 6.38 lakh.

What’s new in the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Lighting variant?

The Interceptor 650 now gets some cool accessories that give it a scrambler look. For starters it gets a new touring seat with a ribbed texture, touring mirrors, a flyscreen and an aluminium sump guard. The bike also gets small engine guards and a CNC oil filter. For the touring enthusiast’s joy, Royal Enfield has also added removable soft panniers to this bike.

No Mechanical changes in the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Lighting variant

The Indian bike maker has not made any mechanical changes to the bike. It continues to be offered with a 648 cc, parallel twin air/oiled cooled engine. This motor generated 47 BHP @ 7,150 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque @ 5,250 rpm. A 6-speed manual gearbox handles the transmission duties. The bike also gets an assist and slipper clutch.

In terms of other hardware on the bike, Royal Enfield has equipped the bike with 18-inch spoked wheels, 42-inch, 110 mm-travel telescopic front forks, and springs with 88 mm travel at the back. Coming to the braking setup, the Interceptor Lighting comes with 320 mm disc at the front and 240 mm disc at the rear. It gets dual-channel ABS. Fuel tank capacity is 13.7-litres.

That said, the company will not be launching this variant of the bike in India. However, fret not, as interested bike owners can purchase the same accessories from the Royal Enfield official accessory catalogue.
