Royal Enfield has confirmed that their flagship models, the Twins as they like to call it would be launched in 2018. Rumours are now doing the rounds that the new Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 could be launched in our country around June-July 2018. Also, these bikes are expected to be priced well under INR 4 lakh, ex-showroom. All this is mere speculation for now.
Powering the Interceptor 650 & Continental GT 650 is an all-new 648cc, parallel-twin, engine single overhead cam, 8-valve, air/oil-cooled, producing 47 BHP of power and 52 Nm of torque. The engine is worked around to deliver strong low & mid-range performance, just like other Royal Enfield motorcycles. For the first time, these Twins will come with a 6-speed gearbox from brand RE coupled with a slipper assist clutch.
The good news is that both these bikes will also come with ABS. So surely, the new 650cc Twins will become the most advanced Royal Enfield motorcycles the brand has ever built.
The Interceptor 650 is a true modern classic in its design. Imitating the Triumph Bonneville some might say, this simple, yet elegant looking old school motorcycle is sure to charm bikes who love the golden days of motoring. The Continental GT 650 on the other hand is more engaging in looks as well as riding with its Cafe Racer DNA, and will replace the current Continental GT 535.
Both bikes are currently undergoing final tests to iron out any niggles which may arise during an ownership cycle.
