For the upcoming 2022 MotoGP championship, Repsol Honda Team has revealed their challengers and a new livery with renewed motivation. The team experienced hardships on both fronts during 2021 with incredible yet memorable moments, including a pole position. Along with 3 wins and 5 podiums in total, the 2021 season witnessed the triumphant return of rider Marc Marquez. Additionally, his teammate Pol Espargaro also achieved his best MotoGP race result by earning his first pole position in 2021.
Team rider Marc Marquez now resumes his career after fully recovering from diplopia which ended his 2021 MotoGP campaign early. Despite the last two injury-hit seasons, Marquez has returned stronger than ever to retain his eight-time World Champion status. The Spaniard will fight for the title by beginning his 10th season with the Repsol Honda Team in MotoGP. Moving to the premier class in 2013, Marquez has achieved 6 World Championship titles, 59 wins, 62 pole positions, and 99 podiums.
Meanwhile, his teammate Pol Espargaro will begin his 2nd season with the Repsol Honda Team after his 2021 rookie season. He achieved a pole position at the 2021 British GP along with securing his best finish in the premier class. Additionally, Espargaro also achieved a 2nd place finish at the Emilia Romagna GP that showcased steady and consistent progress. The 2013 Moto2 World Champion will continue to improve whilst fighting alongside the leading riders for the upcoming season.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2022, Honda HRC has brought about several changes for the upcoming MotoGP World Championship season. Along with the new logo, Honda has ensured to bring their four-wheeled competition efforts under their iconic HRC banner. Meanwhile, the 2022 Repsol Honda Team RC213V gets a new livery and concept from Saitama to ensure their top spot. The 2022 RC213V motorbike also features updated aerodynamics, a revised chassis, and an upgraded engine for enhanced performance.
The 2022 MotoGP season also marks the 28th year of collaboration between Honda and Repsol since their beginnings in 1995. Throughout the 28 years, the team has achieved 15 World Championships, 452 premier class podiums, and 183 race wins. After successful pre-season testing in Sepang, Malaysia, the team will arrive in Mandalika Circuit, Indonesia, for three more days. They will officially begin the season with the first race at the Losail International Circuit, Qatar, on March 6th, 2022.
