Renault’s new compact seven-seater MPV called Triber is set to hit the roads in July 2019. This compact seven-seater will be built on a new platform and will be priced above the Renault Kwid ranging at INR 5 – 8 lakh.

The Renault Triber will bring best-in-class space and modularity while keeping the compactness of a hatch-back and will define a new segment. However, we all have seen the Datsun Go+ try something similar. The Triber will be designed and developed for India keeping in mind the need for compact cars with more space along with passenger carrying capacity.

At its heart will be a 1-litre, 3-cylinder petrol motor as seen on the Renault Kwid, tuned up to deliver 7 BHP more. So we are talking about an power output figure in the range of 75-80 PS. It will be coupled to the Kwid’s 5-speed manual transmission. A turbocharged version of the 1-litre engine and an AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox for the seven-seater compact MPV is expected in the near future.

Safety wise Renault is expected to offer dual front airbags as standard with side airbags on higher variants. Parking assistance systems like reverse camera and parking sensors will also be available on the Renault Triber.

The feature rich interiors of the Renault Triber will sport a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple’s Car Play and Android Auto and will share steering wheel and other elements from the Renault Captur possibly. It will also get sporty dual tone interiors and the third row seats will get its own dedicated air-conditioning vents.

The silhouette teaser image shows a large front bumper and a raised bonnet and that the Triber will be having a large grill.
