Renault has launched a new product for the Indian market after a long time. The Triber is a unique 7-seater MPV which has been priced in the hatchback segment. With prices starting at INR 4.95 lakh ex-showroom, the Triber only has the cheaper Datsun Go+ as an ideal rival, otherwise it can compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios in the price segment.
The 2019 Renault Triber has been launched in 4 variants priced at INR 4.95 lakh for RxE, iNR 5.49 lakh for RxL, INR 5.99 lakh for RxT and INR 6.49 lakh for RxT variant. The Renault Triber has been launched only with a petrol engine option and there is no plan of a diesel motor for the near future.
In terms of specifications, the Triber measures 3990mm in length, 1739mm in width without door mirrors, 1643mm in height without roof rails, 2636mm in wheelbase and has a kerb weight of 947 kg. The small MPV rides on 14″ rims and has a ground clearance of 182mm. Powering the Renault Triber is a 1.0L, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72 PS of power @ 6250 RPM and 96 Nm of torque @ 3500 RPM matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Renault claims a fuel efficiency of 20 kmpl.
What makes the Triber unique is the 3rd row seats, which can be independently removed. With 7-seats up you get 84L of boot space, with 6-seater configuration you get 320L boot space, with 5-seater layout you get 625L of boot space. Talking more in numbers, the Renault Triber offers best-in-class couple distance in the front seat o 710mm, 2nd row leg room space of 200mm and 3rd row leg room space of 91mm. The roof rails of the Triber are not just form, but also function. You can carry / mount additional luggage weighing up to 50 kg on these roof rails adding to the overall carrying capacity of this sub-4 metre product.
