Renault reveals Dacia Bigster SUV concept, is this the new Duster for India?

Groupe Renault has revealed the Dacia Bigster concept SUV which promises to offer a C-Segment vehicle space and size at the cost of a segment below. The Bigster Concept is 4.6 metres in length and boasts to come with no more or less than essential. The brand’s strong design language has been infused in the concept study and it shows in the Bigster’s contemporary yet timeless design. 

The Dacia Bigster concept SUV features large outer proportions as well as spacious interiors along with a robust appearance and a Dark Green paint theme that reinforces the explorer theme of the vehicle. The concept SUV features a Y-shaped lighting signature, a butch front fascia with rugged bumpers, flared wheel arches, chiselled bonnet lines, rearward tapering window line, roof rails, chunky alloy wheels and no use of chrome trim or fake-aluminium. 

In fact, the brand revealed that the Bigster concept uses only raw recycled plastics for all exterior protective panels. Furthermore, the brand revealed that the Dacia Bigster could come with alternative-energy and hybrid engines which will allow the SUV to get in sync with the future emission regulation as well as customer expectations. 

The brand has also revealed the Groupe Renault’s Renaulution strategy which includes the creation of the Dacia-Lada business unit to improve the synergies and efficiency by sharing the CMF-B platform. The Dacia brand benefits from the Groupe Renault and Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance and thanks to the lean distribution model the brand has sold 7 million vehicles marking its presence in 44 countries, so far. The Sandero and Duster remain one of the most sought after SUV sold in Europe. 

The brand under Renault market the Duster SUV in India which has been upgraded to the latest-generation emission standards. The Duster in the Indian market is powered by a 1.3-litre Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) with Dual Variable Valve Timing (VVT) that belts out 156 PS of power and 254 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual and an X-Tronic CVT gearbox.
