Used car business in India is much larger than the new car market. The number of used cars sold per new car is figure not many manufacturers would like to miss, and hence, we have plenty of official players in this sector. Maruti with their True Value, Hyundai with their HPromise and Volkswagen with their Das WeltAuto. Now, Renault also wants to join the used car market. Slowly and steadily, the used car space is getting more organised than it used to be before, and offers a buying experience as good as buying a new car.
Renault is also expected to offer value additions to their user car customers such as ownership transfers and documentation, refurbishing the car, warranty from the date of purchase, free services etc.
With the Duster, Renault tasted a fair amount of success in India and has a reasonable market penetration now. Also, the brand has a couple of big launches coming up such as the Lodgy MPV which will rival the Maruti Ertiga and Honda Mobilio.
