Renault just launched the Kiger B-SUV in the Indian market at the price of INR 5.45 lakh ex-showroom, India (Introductory). The new compact crossover is built on the CMFA+ platform and the car is offered with two petrol powertrain options. Renault recently unveiled the car at a World Premiere in Delhi last month where the brand showcased the Kiger’s design, features and powertrain details.
Design & Styling
The Renault Kiger is underpinned by the CMFA+ platform that is also the base for the Nissan Magnite produced under the Renault-Nissan partnership. The Kiger features an imposing front fascia and comes with the styling that reverberates with the Renault Kwid hatchback. The LED daytime running lights sit flush with the bonnet shutline below which are the turn indicators and the headlamps in cubed segments are mounted on the bumper. The compact crossover features flared wheel arches with a healthy dose of plastic cladding that brings out the SUV stance for the Kiger. The bonnet also receives power bulges and the car comes with functional roof rails, an aerodynamically optimised roofline, integrated wing-style spoiler, a sharply raked rear windscreen, 16-inch alloy wheels and C-shaped LED tail lamps.
Interior Features
On the inside, the Kiger features smart-cabin interiors that come with multilayered dashboard, seating for five adults, an 8-inch centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, control mounted steering wheel, 7-inch fully digital instruments cluster, wireless smartphone charging, automatic climate control, best in class 222 second-row knee room, 405 litres of boot space and 29-litres of in-cabin storage space. The Kiger also comes with a plethora of safety features such as dual front airbags, ABS+EBD and electronic stability program as standard.
Powertrain & Dimensions
Powering the Renault Kiger is a naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed Easy-R AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The other option is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that belts out 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox as well as an optional 5-step CVT automatic. The Renault Kiger is 3,991 mm in length, 1,750 mm in width, 1,600 mm in height, comes with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm and a high ground clearance of 205 mm.
