The Renault Lodgy never really got the mass market acceptance the brand expected. Thanks to the very quirky design, the Logdy has been in showrooms for a very long time, but fails to be seen on the Indian streets. Even fleet operators never welcomed this people mover. Now, Renault has discontinued the Lodgy from the Indian market, and this car will not move to a BS6 update. Currently the Lodgy is sold only with a BS4 diesel engine.
Renault introduced the Lodgy back in 2015, and even after 4 years, it is nowhere close to the cheaper Maruti Suzuki Ertiga or the more expensive Toyota Innova. Even the Mahindra Marazzo has managed to leave a better impression in the MPV space. Another reason is that Renault is planning to stop the K9K diesel engine and not upgrade it to BS6 emission norms. So with this engine out of the picture, and a petrol motor never in consideration for the Lodgy, it is pulled off the shelves.
Prices for the Renault Lodgy started from INR 8.63 lakh ex-showroom and went all the way up to INR 12.11 lakh. The Renault Lodgy with the K9K turbo-diesel motor was sold in 2 states of tune; 85 PS power and 110 PS power. Both the iterations were sold only with a manual gearbox option. The Lodgy was offered to customers in a 7-seater as well as 8-seater option along with a slightly glamorous Stepway variant as well.
It is only a matter of time till the Captur which has been a sales dud gets the same treatment. However, the Captur is expected to march for a little longer with a BS6 petrol engine in the months to come…
