Renault discontinues Kiger RXT CVT variant in india

Written by AnantaSaranNayak

Interesting news coming up from Renault India. Earlier this month, the French carmaker made some changes to its Kiger line-up. It launched the updated RXT (O) MT variant with a slew of new features. But, as we understand, customers can now no longer opt for the RXT CVT variant. We saw so because this variant is no longer listed on Renault India’s website.

Without making any noise, Renault India has silently axed the Kiger RXT CVT variant. Thus, the only CVT option with the Jnow is the top-spec RXZ trim. Customers can have this trim with a dual-tone exterior.

Engine And Gearbox Options

As we know, the CVT gearbox is only available with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. The motor makes 99 BHP @ 5,000 rpm and 152 Nm @ 2,200-4,400 rpm. Customers can also have this engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. The second engine option available with the Kiger is a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit. This motor belts out 71 BHP at 6,250 rpm and 96 Nm at 3,500 rpm. This engine comes matched with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT. The top-spec Renault Kiger RXZ CVT is currently available with a price tag of INR 10,99,990 and INR 11,22,990 (ex-showroom) for the dual-tone version.

What Is The Newly Introduced RXT(O) Trim?

With the newly introduced RXT(O), customers now get additional features. It includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 16-inch alloy wheels, and full-LED headlamps and tail lamps. These variants were so far only offered with the RXZ trim.

The RXT(O) trim is available with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol engines. For the gearbox options too, customers can choose from both manual and automatic guises.

Talking of the price range, it starts from INR 7.99 lakh and goes all the way up to INR 8.77 lakh. All prices mentioned are in the ex-showroom.
