Remember the TVS Graphite concept which was revealed at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo? Seems like the project has been pushed forward as there is no news around this product and its possible launch date.

A futuristic looking scooter, the Graphite gave a brief overview of what we can expect from the TVS stable in the near future. The front end look, with the oddly placed headlamp was synonymous of BMW’s asymmetrical headlamp design language, but did the Graphite receive any inputs from the German arm? Little is known in that department.

The Graphite is expected to be powered by a 149.9cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve, fuel-injected petrol motor producing 14 BHP of power @ 8,000 RPM and 12.7 Nm of torque @ 6,500 RPM. This would make the Graphite the most powerful scooter available on the Indian streets. The other most important feature on the Graphite was that the engine dumped the conventional CVT gearbox, and was mated to a 4-speed AMT unit. This would have been a segment first.

Features:

  • Sharp design, unlike any other scooter in the market
  • Dual tone paint job
  • Projector headlamp setup
  • LED turn indicators
  • LED tail lamp
  • Telescopic front fork
  • Single gas charged rear suspension
  • Front petal disc brake
  • Black alloy wheels
  • Fuel filler located in the rider footwell, on the floow
  • Forged brake levers
  • Long, contoured seats
  • Digital instrument cluster
  • Engine kill-switch
  • ABS
  • 56 kmpl fuel efficiency

If the Graphite does make it to the production line, it could also be a a very expensive scooter in the market. However, the unique styling and better performance figures would surely win some customers.

TVS is currently focusing on revamping its current product line-up and readying the TVS-BMW range of motorcycles which will be revealed globally in 2015.
