All-new Volkswagen T-Roc’s deliveries delayed in India

A few months ago German car major Volkswagen, in a digital media event launched the Volkswagen T-Roc in India at an introductory price of INR 19.99 lakh ex-showroom, but the deliveries of the car have been delayed citing software issues and delays due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown associated with which has disrupted the supply chain system. 

But according to a new report, the Volkswagen T-Roc has been delayed because the vehicle is awaiting a certificate from ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India), a principal Testing and Certification Agency notified by Government of India under Rule 126 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. 

Combined with the COVID-19 related lockdown, the vehicle is yet to complete the required testing distance, says the report. It also further bring to notice that the process should take around 15 to 20 days to complete post which the brand is likely to commence deliveries as well as test drives at their authorised dealerships. 

The Volkswagen T-Roc SUV is built on the MQB ‘Modularer Querbaukasten’ (Modular Transverse Matrix) vehicle architecture and measures 4342mm in length, 1819mm in width, 1573mm in height with a wheelbase of 2590mm and the T-Roc is powered by a BS6 emission compliant 1.5-litre TSI EVO petrol engine that produces 150 ps of power and 250 Nm of torque matched to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. The engine features Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) which according to the driving style deactivates up to two engine cylinders. 

The Volkswagen T-Roc features dual-beam projector LED headlamps, irregular polygonal LED daytime running lights on the bumper with black inserts, flared wheel arches with black claddings, rock guards on the lower parts of the doors, double character line on the shoulder, 17-inch diamond-cut dual-tone alloy wheels and combination LED tail lamp. The T-Roc also comes with comfort and convenience features such as contoured and ergonomic seats with Vienna Leather upholstery, heated front seats, leather gear knob, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a 26.03 cm fully digital active driver’s information display, control mounted multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 20.32 cm touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
