Pure EV has unveiled the ecoDryft commuter electric motorcycle. The Hyderabad-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer has designed, developed and will manufacture the ecoDryft in India.
According to Pure EV, there is a lack of electric motorcycles in the commuter segment in India. Further, this segment represents 80% of all the bikes sold in the country and over 50 percent of all two-wheelers sold in India.
The ecoDryft has been designed and developed at the company’s technical and manufacturing centre in Hyderabad. In terms of specifications, the bike has a maximum speed of 75 km/h with a full-charge range of upto 135 km. The bike gets a 3 kWh battery that is patented and AIS certified. The battery has been completely developed by Pure EV.
Overall, the ecoDryft has been designed and developed to offer a stable and comfortable ride even at speeds of 75 km/h. It has been benchmarked against internal combustion engine commuter segment motorcycles.
The bike will be available in three colours – Black, Grey, Blue and Red.
According to Dr. Nishanth Dongari, Founder, Pure EV, the company has been conducting extensive trials and testing for the ecoDryft. The EV maker claims that this product will offer competitive performance compared to ICE motorcycles of the same segment. It is also possible that this bike could convert ICE customers to EV customers in the commuter segment category.
While Pure EV has dispatched the ecoDryft to dealers across India for test drives, the launch of the bike will take place in the first week of January 2023. Pricing would be announced at the same time as well.
Last year, Pure EV had launched a premium motorcycle ETryst 350, which sits in the premium segment of the Indian market. Hence the company now has both offerings – a commuter bike as well as a premium product in its portfolio.
