Bangalore-based EV start-up company Praviag Dynamics unveiled its Defy and Veer electric SUVs. While the Defy is available to the general public, the Veer is a military version of the same. The ex-showroom price of the Defy is INR 39.5 lakh. While bookings for the same have commenced, the deliveries are expected after 9 months, or in late 2023.
In terms of design, the Defy gets a very sharp bodywork. The car gets a combination of butch look of an SUV and with elements of crossover design as well. The front gets a full-width light bar.
The top half of the Defy is finished in black paint with large windows. The windows along with the sloping roof give the sporty appearance to the car. At the back, a signature character line runs from the fenders to the tailgate which eventually mergers into the rear light bar.
The car has a low coefficient of drag of just 0.33. The car also gets a fixed moonroof. In terms of wheels, the Defy is equipped with 18-inch allows shod in 255/65R18 tyres.
The Defy is a 5-seat SUV, but can also be configured in a four-seat format with individual captain seats for all occupants. In the centre of the dashboard is a 15.6-inch touchscreen display that boasts navigation and 5G connectivity.
On the inside, the car gets sustainable materials like recycled fabric made from PET bottles and vegan leather upholstery. The seats are power-adjustable in six ways, and get a ventilation function.
For the driver, a separate 10-inch screen is placed behind the steering wheel. This can be customised and changed as per the drive mode. Other features include a wireless charger, 240V power socket and dual 15.6-inch entertainment screen for the back.
Other notable features include front and rear climate control zones, mood lighting, multiple wireless chargers, two high power USB C outlets and a key card instead of a regular car key.
The Defy gets a dual-motor setup that has 402 BHP and 620 Nm of torque. The battery consists of 5,000 hard case shells. It can be charged from 0-80% via a fast charger in just 30 minutes. The company claims a range of 500+ km on a single charge. The battery warranty is said to be of 8 years / 2,50,000 km.
