Porsche offers modern touchscreen systems for timeless classic cars

Porsche has announced the introduction of the new Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM), a modern connectivity solution for the timeless classic cars from the German brand. Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) is available at the price of EUR 1,439.89 (PCCM) or EUR 1,606.51 (PCCM Plus), including VAT and navigation material. Both the PCCM and PCCM Plus is available at Porsche centres and Porsche Online shops.

PCCM replaces the original built-in audio units with new touchscreen infotainment systems that not only offer modern connectivity features such as DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting) Radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto but also provide built-in navigation. The PCCM module comes in a single-din as well as a dual-din configuration depending on the car and both offer high-resolution touchscreen displays.

PCCM replaces the 1-DIN audio systems from the 1960s to 1990s 911 model and also the earlier air-cooled front and mid-engined Porsches. PCCM fit in the slot of the original 1-DIN system and comes with two rotary knobs, six pushbuttons and a 3.5-inch touchscreen display with navigation and shows ‘points of interest’ with 2D or 3D route guidance.

PCCM also supports DAB+, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity along with Aux, USB and Bluetooth. User with as old as Apple iPhone 5 can connect to the PCCM system and use apps for media playback, navigation and telephony while driving. The PCCM system also has an SD card slot for uploading map material and for media playback via an SD card.

PCCM Plus replaces the 2-DIN system from the 996 generation Porsche 911 and 986 generation Porsche Boxster model from 1990 that may already be optionally equipped with a Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system in 2-DIN format. The aforementioned model can be replaced with a PCCM Plus 7-inch high-resolution touchscreen display with haptic design and fit adjacent to the air vents and pushbuttons on the dashboard.

The PCCM Plus system like the PCCM supports connectivity features such as Aux, USB, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Media playback can be done via smartphone apps as well as SD card which is also used to update the map information. The built-in navigation supports Porsche Point of Interests with 2D and 3D route guidance. Peripheral components such as an already installed amplifier, speaker and antenna are compatible with PCCM Plus along with navigation display in the instrument cluster.

Porsche recommends that customers install the PCCM and PCCM Plus at Porsche Centres.
