Porsche 718 Cayman GT4RS : More details

This particular variant is the highest amongst the 718 cars. Available only in the coupe style, the GT4RS is the most track-oriented and performance model in the line-up. The car boasts a 7.09.03 time at the Nurburgring, beating the performance-oriented GT4 version by a whopping 23.04 seconds.

In terms of looks, the 718 Cayman GT4RS has an aggressive stance. There are extra aero and cooling elements all around. These include the likes of fender and hood air intakes, front lip, diffuser and a large rear spoiler. The 718 Cayman GT4RS gets LED lights all around and now sits 30 mm lower as well to help its track performance.

Further, the car gets a lot of carbon fibre bits and pieces which have helped reduce the weight of the GT4RS significantly. In comparison with the GT4, the GT4RS weighs 35 kg lesser. It also comes with a composite bonnet and a lightweight rear windscreen.

Coming to the insides, the cabin layout is the same as other 718 modes, save for extra carbon fibre elements. Additionally, Porsche offers a lot of customisation options – including the choice of bucket seats or electrically adjustable seats amongst others. Porsche also offers a dual-zone climate control system, an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, and a cluster with a 4.6-inch display.

Powertrain of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4RS

The car comes with a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine. But, don’t think that this is just the standard motor. This engine produces upwards of 500 HP, which is 80 HP more than the GT4. The engine can also rev to 9,000 rpm while generating a peak torque of 450 Nm. In fact, this engine is the detuned version of the one in the 911 GT3.

Coming to performance, the car goes to the ton from a standstill in 3.4 seconds while the top speed is 315 km/h. Unlike the GT4 which gets a choice of manual or automatic gearbox, the GT4RS comes only with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
