German luxury car manufacturer Porsche has announced the launch of its 718 Cayman GTS sports car for the Indian market. Priced at INR 1.46 crore (ex-showroom), Porsche has launched the 718 Cayman GTS alongside the 718 Boxster GTS. The Cayman GTS is the coupe variant of the 718 series, which features a fixed roof and signature Porsche performance. The automaker has designed the mid-engined sports car for everyday driving, whereby drivers can experience the joy of exploring.
The GTS version of the 718 Cayman retains its iconic sleek styling with a compact body and new elements. These include the GTS-specific front apron, 20-inch satin black alloy wheels, black external airblades, larger air intakes, and black front splitter. Additionally, Porsche has reduced the ride height by 20mm for the Cayman GTS and offers a new sports exhaust system. Other highlights of the 718 Cayman GTS include the tinted LED headlights with LED taillights and stainless steel, high-gloss black tailpipes.
Powering the 718 Cayman GTS is the iconic 4.0-litre, naturally aspirated, flat-six engine which produces 400 PS and 430 Nm. Porsche shares the same engine with the 718 Boxster GTS and offers a 6-speed manual or 7-speed, dual-clutch, automatic transmission. Porsche states that the 718 Cayman GTS can achieve 0-100 kph in 4.5 seconds and a 293 kmph top speed.
The automaker has also ensured to equip the 718 Cayman GTS with upgraded brakes, stiffer springs, and anti-roll bars. The 718 Cayman GTS also gets the Porsche Active Suspension Management, Porsche Stability Management Control, and torque vectoring. Porsche also offers a Sport Chrono Pack for the 718 Cayman GTS, including a mode switch for drivers.
To highlight its sporty credentials further, Porsche offers the 718 Cayman GTS with special GTS-specific interior equipment. This includes the GT sports steering wheel, which features Race-Tex material for improved grip and 2-way adjustable Sports Seats. Additionally, Porsche has also used the Race-Tex material on the seats with special ‘GTS’ logos on the headrests.
