Polo GT TSI & GT TDI production stopped

Now that the Polo facelift launch is just around the corner, what might not seem like a shocking development is that the German marque Volkswagen has stopped production of its GT TSI & GT TDI variants of the Polo hatchback.

Both these variants which sat at the top of the Polo variant line-up however might still be available at select dealerships who still have some stock left. The GT TSI was powered by a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine pumping 104 BHP & 175 Nm while the GT TDI featured a 1.6L turbocharged diesel engine pumping 104 BHP & 250 Nm. Where one offered the butter smooth 7-speed DSG experience, the other offered good performance coupled with diesel fuel efficiency.

The Polo facelift is expected to be launched sometime next month. Its not just cosmetic changes that the facelift Polo will be launched with, but, a new 1.5L 4-cylinder diesel engine is also expected to go on sale. Petrol engines are expected to be the same 1.2L 3-cylinder manual and a 1.2L 4-cylinder TSI.
