PMI Electro Mobility has announced a new milestone. The company has just delivered its 1000th electric bus. One more reason for celebration is the fact that it is the first company in the country to achieve this sales number.
The 1000th bus was delivered under India’s FAME II scheme. It was flagged off by the Union Minister of Heavy Industries, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey along with Minister of State of Heavy Industries Mr. Krishan Pal Gurjar. The 1000th bus was delivered to the Directorate of Transport, Uttar Pradesh.
Benefits of electric buses
According to PMI, they have these 1000 buses running across 26 cities pan India. Compared to diesel buses, these will manage to reduce the CO2 emissions by around 3.4 lakh tons over the course of 12 years. Infact, on a yearly basis, eac electric bus can save 28,000 kg of CO2. In comparison, an equivalent diesel bus would emit around 100 tons annually.
Deployment of PMI Electric buses
The buses are doing duty in cities like Delhi, Shimla, Rajkot, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Kolkata, Agra, Mangalore, Prayagraj, and Ladakh. Equipped with features like RTMS (real time monitoring system) and CCTV, the buses offer safe rides for the passengers. Thanks to air suspension, the ride over bumpy roads is much better. Also, being electric, all the torque is available instantly from 0 rpm. This makes these buses quick off the mark and gives them the ability to tackle difficult road conditions with ease.
Manufacturing units of PMI Electro Mobility
Currently, the company has a plant in Dharuhera, Haryana. PMI is also looking at setting up a second unit in Pune, Maharashtra. Further, the battery assembly plant of the bus maker is operated solely by women staff.
Apart from the deployment of electric buses, the company has also developed electric bus depots of 44 MW capacity. These depots help not only in charging the buses but also take care of the maintenance of these buses.
