Pininfarina to develop electric sportscar

Written by Dev Jaising

After being acquired by Indian automotive major – Mahindra, Pininfarina is all set to produce an electric sports car. Technological advancements from Formula E will be incorporated in this electric sportscar.

Pininfarina showcased a hydrogen sports car concept called the H2 Speed at this year’s Geneva show. Mahindra is involved in Formula E and hence can use the technology already present in its race cars. Owning a well known international design house sets Mahindra apart from the competition in the industry. Mahindra will develop a variety of powertrains for the H2 Speed concept.

This is a huge achievement for an Indian automobile major to be involved in such a project. It goes to show how diverse and evolved the Mahindra group has grown to become.

Before the buyout, Mahindra was one of Pininfarina’s biggest clients and would continue to get design expertise from the Italian company.
