Piaggio Vespa And Its Key Highlights

Mechanicals

Vespa has been an iconic nameplate in the scooter segment. With its characteristic retro outlook, the scooter looks quite different from the traditional scooter on sale in India. The Vespa SXL uses a 124.45cc BS6 engine which makes a power of 9.78 BHP and a torque of 9.60 Nm. With front disc and rear drum brakes, Vespa SXL 125 comes equipped with a combined braking system for both wheels. This SXL 125 scooter tips the weighing scale at 114 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 7.4 litres. Suspension duties are performed by a single side arm suspension for the front. Meanwhile, on the rear, we get a hydraulic monoshock.

Design Language

The SXL 125 is a more premium version of the VXL 125 in Vespa’s India lineup of lifestyle scooters. It gets a classic design which is in tune with the Italian marque’s retro character. What mainly differentiates the SXL from the VXL aesthetically is the presence of a rectangular-shaped headlamp and rearview mirrors. Other than that, both the trims remain identical in terms of hardware.

Features On Offer

Staying true to their vintage theme, Vespa scooters were previously missing out on modern features. However, with the BS6 update, Piaggio has added most of them. This includes a full-LED headlamp, USB charger and an under-seat light. The instrument cluster now comprises an analogue speedometer along with a digital display to show other data.
