Piaggio launches Ape electric 3-wheeler for INR 2.83 lakh

India’s leading small commercial vehicle manufacturer, Piaggio Vehicles introduced the Piaggio FX electric three-wheeler range in the Indian market that now comes with two models a three-wheeler electric rickshaw and another three-wheeler electric goods carrier. The electric three-wheelers are the Ape E-City FX and Ape E-Xtra FX. The E-City FX comes at INR 2.84 lakh ex-showroom post-FAME-II subsidy and the Ape E-Xtra FX comes at INR 3.12 lakh ex-showroom, India Introductory.

Piaggio Ape E-City

Powering the Piaggio Ape E-City FX electric three-wheeler rickshaw is a 5.4 kW electric motor that generates 29 Nm of torque and draws power from a 48V 7.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The power is sent to the wheels via a PT gear with an integral differential.  The electric rickshaw measures 2700 mm in length, 1370 mm in width, 1725 mm in height comes with a wheelbase that measures 1920 mm and a 163mm high ground clearance. The E-City FX tips the scales at 713 kg and is capable of carrying a payload of 413 kgs. The electric rickshaw can touch a top speed of 45 kmph, a 19% gradeability and return a range of around 110 km on a single charge. The E-City FX charges in 3 hours 45 minutes with a 48V / 3000W Off-board charger.

Piaggio Ape E-Xtra FX

Powering the Piaggio Ape E-Xtra FX electric three-wheeler rickshaw is a 9.55 kW electric motor that makes 45 Nm of torque and draws power from an 8 kWh 48-volt lithium-ion battery send the power to the wheels using a PT gear with integral differential. The electric cargo carrier measures 3315 mm in length, 1490 mm in width, 1770 mm in height, 2100 mm of the wheelbase a 220 mm ground clearance and a cargo bay that measures 1830 mm x 1400 mm x 285 mm (LxWxH). The electric cargo carrier is capable of a high 506 kg payload capacity and comes with a Gross Vehicle Weight of 975 kg. The E-Xtra FX can do a top speed of 45 kmph, comes with 17% gradeability and returns a driving range of around 90 km on a single charge. The E-Xtra FX charges in 3 hours 45 minutes with a 48V / 3000W Off-board charger.
