Land Rover’s successful Defender model is getting ready for a major update in the international market. The brand could be readying the long-wheelbase Defender 130. The longer Defender 130 will come with longer overhangs on the front and rear. Speculations are that the new Defender 130 will also come with extra seating space and a larger boot. Land Rover will also enhance interior space on the vehicle on the longer version on the Defender.
The Land Rover Defender 130 will likely come with the same design language as the existing Defender 90 and 110. But the SUV will have a much larger rear overhang on the rear. The brand is also likely to offer a few distinguishing elements on the vehicle, including premium features and concentrate its efforts mainly on convenience features.
However, the SUV will be equally capable when compared to the Defender 90 and 110 models. On the inside, the dashboard layout is also likely to remain similar to the current models. In addition to this, the seating of the Land Rover Defender 130 will also come with an eight-seat option. The SUV is likely to be targeted towards family, active lifestyle and travel audiences.
Powering the Defender 130 will likely be a 3.0-litre six-cylinder PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) engine. The engine will make around 200 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque and comes with a four-wheel drivetrain. The brand is also likely to offer a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine. The V8 engine will make 525 PS of power and 625 Nm of torque. Both engines are likely to come with an automatic transmission as standard.
The Land Rover Defender 130 is likely to make its debut in the international market in late 2022. Expect more details to arrive closer to its launch. The brand is also likely to introduce the car in the Indian market after its debut in the international market.
