Paying tribute to the Jawa 500 OHV, which was the first Jawa ever built; Classic Legends is planning to introduce a limited ‘Anniversary Edition’ of their Jawa motorcycle. Celebrating 90th anniversary of the Jawa 500 OHV, only 90 units of the new Jawa anniversary edition will go on sale. It remains to be seen how quickly Classic Legends honours these bookings after launch, as Jawa has been in the negative books of many thanks to their super slow delivery process. Existing customers in the wait list can also opt for this version of Jawa motorcycle.
The limited Anniversary Edition will obviously be built around the classic Jawa model, and not the Forty Two. Expect a new body colour, new body decals and a 90th anniversary badge. Do not expect any mechanical change on this celebratory model.
Bookings for the Anniversary Model are now open. Pricing has not been revealed yet, but we expect an additional INR 5,000 – 10,000 to be charged as a premium for this.
Powering the motorcycle will be the same 293cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, DOHC, liquid-cooled motor producing 27 BHP of power and 28 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed gearbox. What makes the Jawa bikes unique in the segment is that they get a twin functional exhaust system from a single-cylinder motor. The bike rides on a double cradle chassis and has a telescopic front fork and twin gas charged rear shock absorbers. The bike is sold with a dual-channel ABS system backed by a disc brake at the front and rear.
The Jawa is very accessible with a seat height of just 760mm and has a kerb weight of 170 kg.
The bike rivals the likes of Royal Enfield Classic 350 & Bullet series considering the price range but has a superior engine in comparison. However, Classic Legends with their untimely product delivery are causing quite some negative PR for the product and competition is benefiting from this.
