Electric mobility company Omega Seiki has announced that the brand has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Valeo, a French global automotive supplier. Under the partnership, Valeo, the world leader in automotive electrification technology, will provide its 48V electric powertrain system to Omega Seiki. The brand will use the electric powertrain in the Omega Seiki Mobility cargo three-wheelers – Rage+ and Rage+ Frost.
Under the collaboration, Valeo will provide Omega Seiki with powertrain components such as integrated motors, inverters and reducers. The brand will also provide a Powertrain Control Unit for the Rage+ and Rage+ Frost electric three-wheelers. Valeo’s engineers will also provide technology integration support to expedite the entry into the electric vehicle segment.
Omega Seiki Mobility also announced that the brands would further collaborate for upcoming electric vehicle models. These upcoming EVs will aim at the last mile connectivity market in India. The fully integrated powertrain is not just compact but also affordable. Hence, these powertrains will power the future electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers in our country.
The French brand also has a joint venture with Siemens eAutomotive and also produces high-voltage electrical systems. The systems greater than 60V are considered high-voltage systems. The brand also offers 48V low voltage systems as well. This versatility helps the brand provide technological systems to both two- and three-wheel urban vehicles, Premium Sedans and SUVs. Valeo produces its electric powertrains in India from its manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra.
Omega Seiki Mobility produces its electric vehicles from the manufacturing plant in Faridabad. The brand has already launched its first electric three-wheeler. The three-wheeler aimed at last-mile mobility solutions and commercial applications was introduced in 2020. Now with Valeo on board, the brand plans to fast track its plans of launching several electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers in India.
