Omega Seiki, an electric three-wheeler manufacturer has partnered with Log9 Materials, introducing a new Rapid Charging battery technology. Omega Seiki has further announced that the Rage+ electric three-wheeler battery technology will employ the new RapidX battery technology. The brand also reveals that it is using this new technology on commercial three-wheeler for the first time in the Indian market. The rapid charging technology will help the last-mile delivery ecosystem in the country. This will also help transform the commercial electric three-wheeler segment, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Omega Seiki Rage+ electric three-wheeler will be available with two battery variants. A 5.8 kWh, 120 Ah battery pack and a 6.5 kWh, 140 Ah unit. The 5.8 kWh, 120 Ah unit will take 30 minutes to recharge fully. On the other hand, the 6.5 kWh, 140 Ah battery unit will take 35 minutes to recharge completely.
Both battery units also come with an operating range between -40-degrees Celsius and +65-degrees Celsius. The wide operating range allows the batteries to be compatible with various climatic conditions found in India. The Rapid Charging battery also comes with a 15,000 charge cycle, making it durable and long-lasting. On top of this, the brand is also offering a class-leading 15-year warranty on the battery pack.
Omega Seiki also reveals that the Rage+ with the new Log9 Materials-developed battery comes with a range between 65-100 km on a single charge. The brand claims that the Log9 Materials battery is far superior to the electric vehicle batteries currently available in the domestic and global markets.
Under the partnership, Omega Seiki and Log9 Materials will target the B2B last-mile delivery segment to develop the Rapid Charging battery technology. The new Log9 RapidX batteries utilise the supercapacitor technology and the expertise of Log9 Material in the field of nanomaterials and advanced energy storage technologies. The Omega Seiki designs the three-wheelers and they are developed in house and deployed by several major e-commerce and logistics companies in India.
