Ola teases electric car again

Ola Electric has once again released a teaser video of its electric car. The new video shows some of the interior bits of the EV.

What’s new on the inside

The first striking feature of the car is its squared steering wheel. A has a two-spoke design with the Ola logo in the middle. The spokes are at 3 and 9 o’clock positions, house touch-sensitive control buttons, and a pair of toggle buttons on either side. They are also backlit. The car gets a slim instrument cluster behind the steering wheel. The dashboard is of minimalist type with just a blue ambient light. There appear to be no visible AC vents, storage pockets or even a glovebox. In the middle of the dashboard is a large infotainment screen.

New exterior details

The teaser now reveals a head-on shot of the car on the outside. The Ola EV gets an upright windscreen, slim LED headlights, a full-width lightbar connecting the headlights as mentioned earlier, a slim air dam at the bottom of the bumper and a small backlit Ola logo in the middle of the bonnet just above the lightbar. The ORVMs are absent, and instead, there are cameras.

Tech specs of the Ola EV

However, it is still unclear what body style the electric car could debut. Earlier teasers revealed a sedan-type vehicle, while the current teaser could be of a crossover / SUV design. Ola has announced a 2024 release for the car. While the technical details are not yet known, the vehicle will come with a 70-80 kWh battery, a range of a minimum of 500 km, a 0-100 km/h time of sub 5 seconds and a low drag coefficient of 0.21.

Ola’s EV vs the competition

Current electric cars on sale and upcoming in the mass market segment include Tata Nexon EV, Tata Tigor, Tata Tiago, Hyundai Kona Electric, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400 and BYD Atto 3. Ola’s electric car would have to compete with these.
