Ola has shuffled its scooter line-up once again. This time, the electric scooter maker has discontinued the S1 variant. That leaves only the S1 Air and the S1 Pro options for customers to choose from.
The S1 electric scooter sat in the middle of the S1 Air and S1 Pro. However, the scooter was last priced at INR 1,29,999. This put the scooter around INR 20,000 more expensive than the Air and just INR 10,000 cheaper than the S1 Pro. Naturally, customers would have gone for S1 Pro over the S1 due to this price difference.
Officially, the company has not revealed any reason for the discontinuation of the scooter. The mid-spec S1 scooter was offered in two variants – one with a 2kWh battery and the other with a 3kWh unit. The former was removed from the website as well a while back. The last known price was INR 99,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru, including FAME-II).
The 3kWh variant of the S1 earlier retailed at INR 1.15 lakh and the last price for the same was hiked by INR 15,000, to INR 1.30 lakh.
In terms of specs, the scooter was equipped with a 5.5 kW motor with a 3 kWh battery. The top speed was claimed to be 95 km/h with a maximum range of 141 km according to the Indian Driving Cycle.
Feature-wise, the S1 was offered with a monoshock suspension on both ends, disc brakes on each wheel, a 7-inch colour TFT display and multiple drive modes – Eco, Normal and Sport. Safety features included side stand alert and a combined braking system
Today, customers can purchase the Ola S1 Air for INR 1.19 lakh, while the S1 Pro sells at INR 1.40 lakh. This means, customers can choose from the cheaper S1 Air or opt for the higher-end S1 Pro. The price difference of around INR 20,000 has negated the need for another scooter in between them.
