Ola Electric has launched the all-new S1 electric scooter in the Indian market. The brand recently disrupted the electric scooter segment by announcing the commencement of booking for the Ola S1 at the price of INR 499. The brand also announced that the deliveries will commence from October 2021 in the Indian market. The brand offers two variants of the electric scooter – S1 and S1 Pro.
The brand has revealed that the Ola S1 electric scooter will come with a sticker price of INR 99,999 ex-showroom, NOT including state government incentives, registration and insurance. In states such as Gujarat, the price after subsidy will be INR 79,000, and in Delhi, the price will be INR 85,009.
The Ola S1 is the brand’s first electric scooter in India. According to Ola, the S1 is designed and engineered in India for the world. The brand also boasts that the scooter comes with design features that will provide the best scooter experience to owners. The electric scooter is available in 10 body colour options with matte, satin and glossy finishes. Apart from the vast range of colours, the Ola Scooter also comes with a fluidic design on the body, twin headlamp cluster, large alloy wheels and ergonomic seating.
Powering the Ola Scooter is an 8.5 kW hyperdrive electric motor. Ola boasts that the electric motor on the S1 is the most powerful in the industry, with exceptional peak power and torque. The hyperdrive electric motor is capable of propelling the S1 from 0-40 kmph in just 3 seconds. The electric scooter is also capable of achieving a top speed of 115 kmph. The electric motor draws power from 3.97 kWh battery packs that are able to deliver a range of 181 km on a single charge. The e-scooter also comes with Ola’s proprietary battery management system (BMS) to actively monitor the battery packs for performance, range, durability, and safety.
The Ola S1 features a 7-inch touchscreen with multi microphones and in-house-developed AI speech recognition algorithms. The electric scooter comes with the new ‘digital key’ that features no physical key and pairs the scooter with the smartphone. The instruments system also features the MoveOS, which has four moods – Bolt, Care, Vintage and Wonder. The scooter also gets three driving modes – Normal, Sport and Hyper.
On the safety front, the Ola S1 features water and dust resistance as well as a flame retardant battery. The scooter gets disc brakes on the front and rear with hill hold as well as an anti-theft alert system, geo-fencing. The scooter also gets a side step and a grab rail for pillion safety.
