Ola Electric announces recall for 1,441 units of its S1 Pro electric scooter. In recent times, there have been multiple reports of EVs catching fire. One of such incidents involved the Ola S1 Pro. The incident took place in Pune, where the electric scooter caught fire.
The video recording of the incident surfaced online and went viral in no time. The company’s investigation of the incident from Pune is still ongoing. Although, the company says the preliminary assessment of the incident points toward it being an isolated incident.
The recall pertains to a specific batch of the Ola S1 Pro. The manufacturer recalls 1,441 units of the electric scooter. The company says it will conduct detailed diagnostics and health checks of the concerned batch. In addition to this, service technicians will check the thermal and safety systems of the scooters as well as the battery pack.
Ola Electric offers the S1 in five colour options – Porcelain White, Coral glam, Neo Mint, Jet Black, and Marshmellow Yellow. In addition to these, the S1 Pro comes in five additional colours – Liquid Silver, Matte Black, Anthracite Grey, Midnight Blue and Millennial Pink.
The prices for the Ola Electric scooter start at INR 99,999 ex-showroom for the S1 variant and INR 129,999 ex-showroom for the S1 Pro variant. However, it is important to note that these prices do not include any state government subsidy.
The Ola Electric S1 Pro has a 3.97 kWh battery pack and offers an ARAI-certified range of 181 km. The S1 Pro has three riding modes – Normal, Sport and Hyper. The charging time from 0 to 100 per cent battery is 6 hours and 30 minutes. The S1 Pro accelerates from 0 to 40 kmph in 3 seconds and tops out at 115 kmph.
