Ola Electric is planning to expand its electric scooter portfolio further in the Indian market. Currently the brand has three electric scooters S1 Pro, S1 Air and S1 X. However, the brand currently does not have any presence in the B2B segment. To change this, Ola Electric could be planning to introduce a new electric scooter for commercial last mile deliveries.
According to a media report, Ola Electric has also filed patents for the new scooter at the intellectual property office. The design patents are quite crude at the moment and only a few details can be seen. However, the commercial segment scooter looks quite utilitarian, maximum utility and minimising creature comforts.
Design patents reveal an undergone chassis which appears quite exposed and minimal bodywork. Image of the design patent also reveals a headlight integrated with the front apron as well as a pos-style instruments. The instruments are also likely to be minimal offering important information such as speed, battery range and state of charge.
The scooter also appears to have a large single seat and large wheels. The suspension on the front is likely to be telescopic while the rear is likely to come with dual shocks with coil-over springs. The electric scooter is also likely to get a flat floorboard maximising the load carrying ability. A tail rack on the rear also gives the electric scooter additional space to carry extra load.
Technical details on the Ola commercial scooter is scarce at the moment but the EV is likely to come with a wheel-mounted motor. The scooter is also likely to come with battery pack under its seat. The battery pack is likely to be user removable and rechargeable. Ola could also introduce its first swappable battery system along with a twin battery system for extended range. Expect a real world range of around 120-150 km.
More details on the Ola commercial electric scooter is likely to arrive in the near future, so stay tuned.
