Ola Electric has announced the launch of its latest electric scooter, the S1 Z, priced at INR 59,999 (ex-showroom). This new model is designed to cater to urban commuters for short city rides.
The Ola S1 Z features a sleek, modern design with a boxy silhouette. It is quite different as compared to the otehr S1 models. The scooter is shod with 14-inch wheels as opposed to the S1 series which has 12-inch wheels. It also gets a 5-inch display. The S1 Z has an option to install a luggage rack making it viable for last-mile delivery vehicle.
One of the standout features of the S1 Z is its removable battery packs, which can be easily swapped out for extended range and convenience. It is equipped with two removable 1.5 kWh battery packs, providing a certified range of 75 km with a single battery and 146 km with both batteries installed. The scooter boasts a top speed of 70 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.
Additionally, Ola has introduced the PowerPod, a portable battery pack that doubles as a home inverter, allowing users to power small household appliances using the scooter’s battery.
The S1 Z is positioned as an entry-level electric scooter, targeting young professionals, students, women, and elderly riders. It can also be used for commerical purposes as a last mile delivery vehicle. With its competitive pricing and advanced features, Ola aims to make electric mobility much more accessible to a broader audience. Deliveries of the S1 Z are expected to begin in May 2025.
The S1 Z is a more affordable variant in the S1 series. While it is targetted towards consumer use. We believe it is more practical as a last mile delivery vehicle. The pricing is also at par with other vehicles offering a similar use case.
