Ola has launched its first B2B purchase-oriented electric scooter; Ola Gig, at the starting price of INR 39,999 (ex-showroom). It comes in another variant as well called as Gig+, at a starting price of INR 49,999. The delivery for both e-scooters is going to start from April 2025.
The Ola Gig is the base model that can be operated without registration because it has a 250-watt motor and a top speed of 25 kph. The Yulu models will be in direct competition with this product. On the other hand, the Ola Gig+ comes with a 1.5kW motor and a top speed of 45 kph and will need to be registered for road use.
Ola Gig comes with a spacious single seat for the rider and a large carrier at the back because it was made to be a commercial two-wheeler. The e-scooter has a telescopic front fork and drum brakes on both rear and front.
One detachable 1.5kWh battery pack is included with both scooters. However, if you purchase the Gig+, you can increase the number of packs to two. A battery range of 112 km is offered by Gig. Further, Gig+ has a battery range of 81 km or 157 km; depending on whether you purchase the Gig+ with one battery or two.
Although the business claims speedy charging times, precise numbers haven’t been provide by them. Both the scooters will be activated by app-based access. Ola hasn’t disclosed any additional details yet, except some digital render photos. Major details like wheel diameters, load-carrying capacity, kerb weight, and seat height are yet to be disclosed by them.
