Ola Electric is gearing up to launch a new electric scooter in the Indian market. The EV is in the final stages of the launch, and Ola could announce the launch dates in the coming weeks. Ola’s Chairman and Group CEO Bhavish Aggarwal took the new Ola Electric scooter out for a spin around Bangalore. The head honcho visited some of the iconic spots in the city riding the Ola Electric scooter.
According to the brand, the new electric scooter is a “Leap-Frog Product” and comes with several industry-leading features. The brand boasts that the EV comes with innovation in electric motor technology, battery technology, the vehicle computer and many more advanced features through innovative software.
Ola’s chief, Mr Bhavish Aggarwal, put the electric scooter through its paces during the run. According to Aggarwal, the Ola Electric scooter is a “game changing vehicle”. Aggarwal tested the scooter for its design, speed, range, manoeuvrability, ride & handling, etc., during the trip around the city. Apart from the head honcho signing off on the EV, the engineering team at Ola Electric have been extensively testing the scooter for the last few months. The brand claims that the Ola Scooter returns the best-in-class speed, range and performance.
Ola Electric will manufacture the brand’s first electric scooter at the Ola FutureFactory. The production plant spans over 500 acres of land in Tamil Nadu and is nearing its first phase. The brand also revealed that by the following year, when the plant is fully built, it will be capable of churning out 10 million units per annum. This will make the Ola FutureFactory the largest electric scooter manufacturing plant in the world.
Unfortunately, Ola Electric is still tight-lipped about the powertrain specifications of the electric motor. The brand will compete with Ather Energy, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak electric and the likes.
