The Wuling Air EV will be arriving in India sometime in 2023. The car was the official partner for the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia on 15th and 16th November 2022. The carmaker had deployed 300 units of the Wuling Air to ferry the delegates. These included 216 long range units and 84 standard range ones.
The Wuling Airs deployed at the event were covered in different liveries. There were based upon the Indonesian heritage, culture and legacy. Particular attention was given and there was unique designs on not just the front, sides and the back but also the roof of the car.
The Air gets a very boxy design with big doors. The side profile consists of the entire door. The long wheelbase version gets small windows behind the door. While the short wheelbase version can accommodate 2 passengers, the long wheelbase version is said to ferry 4 passengers comfortably.
The Wuling Air gets a full-width lightbar and a chrome stripe that connects the ORVMS. The rear too gets a red light bar that spans the entire width of the car. There is a small logo at the bottom.
Coming to the interiors, the Air gets a dual screen display and faux leather upholstery. The car will also get dual front airbags and a rear parking camera as standard.
Speaking of the range of the electric car, the SWB gets a 17.3 kWh battery, which is good for 200 km. The larger LWB version gets a bigger 26.7 kWh unit which can go do a claimed 300 km on a single charge. Both the variants are powered by the same 40 PS electric motor that drives the rear wheels.
The Wuling Air’s long range version is the likely candidate to arrive in India. It will be MG’s first mass market EV and join the ZS EV as its stablemate. The Air will debut at the 2023 Auto Expo.
