Nissan Magnite will launch in India on 2nd December

Nissan has announced that the brand’s all-new B-SUV the Nissan Magnite will be launched in the Indian market on 2nd December 2020. The price on the Nissan Magnite will also be revealed on the same day. The brand has also announced that customers will not only be able to view the Magnite at Nissan dealerships but also be able to book the SUV across India. The Nissan Magnite is designed in Japan for India and produced at the company’s Oragadam production facility in Chennai. The brand has also announced that the Nissan Magnite will be a world product that is made in India and exported to key emerging markets under the Nissan NEXT strategy.  

The B-SUV measures 3994mm in length, 1758mm in width, 1572mm in height, 2500mm of the wheelbase, 205mm of the ground clearance, gets 336mm of boot space and a 40-litre fuel tank capacity. In the Indian market, the sub4-metre category vehicle will compete with Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon. It is being speculated that the Magnite SUV is likely to come with prices starting at INR 5.5 lakh ex-showroom undercutting the competition by a considerable margin. 

Nissan has also revealed the technical specifications of the Magnite and the compact crossover will be powered by a BS6 emission-compliant B4D 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder dual VVT equipped petrol engine that produces 72 PS of power and 92 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. Another option is an HRA0 1.0-litre three-cylinder Turbo-Petrol motor that produces 100 Hp of power and 160 Nm of torque on the 5-speed manual gearbox. The Magnite with the turbo-petrol engine also comes with an X-TRONIC CVT automatic gearbox that delivers 152 Nm of torque. In terms of the fuel economy, the naturally-aspirated B4D engine claims a fuel efficiency of 18.75 kmpl and the HRA0 turbo-petrol motor claims 20 kmpl with the manual gearbox and 17.7 kmpl with the CVT automatic. 

The Nissan Magnite will be sold in 20 variants and comes with features such as LED headlamps, LED daytime running lights, LED foglamps, functional roof rails, diamond-cut alloy wheels, power-folding & adjustable ORVMs, 8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, fully digital instruments cluster, engine start-stop button, 360-degree camera, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system etc.
