Nissan Magnite launched in India at INR 4.99 lakh, set to disrupt compact-SUV segment

Nissan has launched the much-awaited B-SUV in the Indian market, the Nissan Magnite. The Nissan Magnite has been priced starting at INR 5.54 ex-showroom, India. But the big news is that the Magnite is offered with an introductory price tag of INR 4.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. And this low price tag is valid for all customers who book this new compact-SUV till 31st of December, 2020. At this price, the new Nissan Magnite is surely going to disrupt the compact-SUV space. This sub-4 metre compact-SUV is offered in two petrol-powered engine options – a 1.0-litre three-pot naturally-aspirated motor and another 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill, both conforming to BS6 emission compliance. The Magnite is also offered in four dual tone colours – Flare Garnet Red and Onyx Black, Pearl White and Onyx Black, Tourmaline Brown and Onyx Black, Vivid Blue and Storm White. Also, four monotone colours are offered – Blade Silver, Sandstone Brown, Onyx Black and Storm White.

In terms of safety, the Nissan Magnite offers a plethora of features such as dual front airbags, three-point seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters for both driver and front passenger, Emergency Locking Retractor for rear passenger seatbelts, Seat Belt Reminder for driver and front passenger, Antilock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Anti Roll Bar, Rear Parking Sensors, Automatic Warning Hazard on Heavy Braking, Rear Window Defogger, Child Lock and Immobilizer, all as a standard part of the pack. 

The Magnite also features Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Around View Monitor, Rear Camera with guidelines, Speed-Sensing Lock, Impact-Sensing Unlock, LED Front Fog Lamps, Anti-Theft Alarm, ISOFIX etc. on the higher-spec models. 

The Nissan Magnite is powered by a B4D 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder dual VVT petrol engine producing 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine claims a fuel efficiency of 18.75 kmpl. The other option is a HRA0 1.0-litre three-cylinder Turbo-Petrol engine producing 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque on the 5-speed manual gearbox and 152 Nm of torque on the optional X-TRONIC CVT automatic gearbox. The engine claims a fuel efficiency of 20 kmpl on manual and 17.7 kmpl on the CVT automatic gearbox. 

In terms of its external dimensions, the Magnite measures 3994mm in length, 1758mm in width, 1572mm in height, 2500mm of the wheelbase, 205mm of ground clearance, 336-litres of boot space expandable up to 690-litres and a 40-litre fuel tank capacity. 

On the outside, the Nissan Magnite features an imposing radiator grille with trough intake grille, chrome surrounds, a silver skid plate, L-shaped daytime running lights on the bumper, sleek LED headlamps with integrated signal lamps, bumper-mounted fog lamps, plastic cladded wheel arches, a strong character line on the side profile, a raised bonnet, chrome window line, ORVM integrated turn indicators, multilayered rear bumper, sharply raked rear windscreen and sleek combination tail lamps. 

On the inside, the Magnite offers a multi-layered dashboard with hexagonal air-conditioning vents, best-in-class 700 mm couple seat distance, air conditioner with deodorizing + dust filter as standard, embossed black fabric with light grey fabric accent as standard, 8-inch floating infotainment system with Nissan connect – 50+ Features & Smartwatch Connectivity, Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto integration, 2.4A Fast Charging USB with illumination, LED instrument cluster with 3.5-inch LCD display as standard, 7-inch TFT Advanced Drive-Assist instrument cluster on higher trims. The car also comes with an optional Tech Pack that features Wireless Smartphone Charger, Air Purifier, Ambient Mood Lighting, LED Scuff Plates, Puddle Lamps and JBL Speakers. 

The Nissan Magnite is offered in four variants – XE, XL, XV and XV Premium. The entry-level XE is only available with the naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre engine with manual transmission option and the rest are offered with both naturally-aspirated as well as turbo-petrol options with the latter offered with both manual and CVT engine options.
