The Nissan Kicks has been in the Indian market for quite some time now, but it is not really a common sight on the Indian streets. The Nissan brand isn’t really attracting car buyers in India, and now, the Japanese manufacturer has announced a new base model for the diesel-powered Kicks SUV. The new Kicks XE variant has been introduced at a price tag of INR 9.89 lakh ex-showroom. With the revised pricing, this new base model for the Kicks is INR 1.2 lakh cheaper than the XL variant which was the entry-level version before.
Variant wise revised prices:
- Kicks XE Diesel – INR 9.89 lakh
- Kicks XL Diesel – INR 11.09 lakh
- Kicks XV Diesel – INR 12.51 lakh
- Kicks XV Pre Diesel – INR 13.69 lakh
- Kicks XL Petrol – INR 9.55 lakh
- Kicks XV Petrol – INR 10.95 lakh
Nissan offers the Kicks with a 2-year standard warranty and 3-year extended warranty option.
The Nissan Kicks petrol has a 1.5L, H4K, 4-cylinder, 2WD motor which produces 142 Nm of peak torque @ 4000 RPM and 106 PS of peak power at 5600 RPM matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox option. The Kicks diesel has a 1.5L, K9K, dCi diesel engine with 2WD producing 110 PS of power @ 3850 RPM and 240 Nm of torque @ 1750 RPM matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox option. There is no automatic variant available across the Nissan Kicks range.
The Nissan Kicks is a 5-seater SUV and rivals the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur, MG Hector, Tata Harrier and the upcoming Kia Seltos. The Kicks is not really a bad product, it is just that the footfall in Nissan showrooms is so less, that sales are difficult to manage. In comparison, the rival brands have had a good run in selling their cars in this very segment, except for the Renault Captur which has been a sales dud since day 1.
