Spy images of the Nissan Ariya EV have surfaced online. The all-electric car was spotted on Indian roads recently. Nissan could have got the car on our shores for evaluation and testing. The Ariya heads up against the likes of the ia EV6 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Nissan Ariya : More details
Back in 2019, Nissan had showcased the Ariya concept at the Tokyo Motor Show. The production model was revealed in 2020 and is based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi’s CMF-EV electric architecture.
The electric car gets a new design shield. Nissan is also offering an illuminated logo in some markets. The car’s style can be described to be like a coupe with a shoulder line that goes from the front to the back. The car rides on 19 or 20-inch wheels.
Coming to the inside, Nissan has equipped the Ariya with large 12.3-inch displays. The Japanese carmaker has not given any physical buttons instead had made use of haptic controls. Other features inside include a Bose sound system and a head-up display.
Driver Assistance features of the Nissan Ariya
The car comes with a slew of ADAS features. This includes Nissan’s ProPilot technology. Further, the car also received a full 5-star rating from the Euro NCAP crash test done back in 2022.
Nissan Ariya : Powertrain and Range
Nissan has positioned the Ariya above the Leaf. Interested customers can configure their Ariya as a single motor rear wheel drive or a twin-motor all-wheel-drive unit. There are two battery packs on offer – a 63 kWh and a larger 87 kWh unit. The former makes 217 HP and 300 Nm, while the larger battery unit is offered with two specifications – 242 HP / 300 Nm or 306 HP and 600 Nm. The range of the car is 402 km, 529 km and 315 km respectively for the aforementioned variants.
It remains to be seen if Nissan would bring the Ariya to India as it hasn’t explicitly mentioned any plans for launching the SUV here.
Nissan Ariya : India launch?
It is not yet known if Nissan will bring the car to the Indian shores. Recently Renault-Nissan shared its plan for India. The carmarker will be launching 6 new vehicles including an entry-level EV by 2025.
