Next-Generation Hyundai Tucson unveiled, Launch slated for 2021

Hyundai Motor has unveiled the all-new 2021 Tucson which is confirmed to go on sale in September 2021 in the South Korean market followed by the United States and other global markets by the end of 2021, sold as the 2022 model. The all-new Hyundai Tucson is now in the fourth-generation and will be produced in Europe at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) production plant in Nošovice, Czech Republic, strengthening the brand’s commitment towards the European market.

The all-new Hyundai Tucson comes with a new ‘Parametric Dynamics’ exterior design theme that comes with new sharper geometrical surfaces along with a new cutting edge headlamp architecture called ‘Parametric Hidden Lights’ and new dual-cockpit layout for enhanced user experience, following the brand’s minimalist and uncluttered design theme.

On the outside, the all-new Tucson features a new jewel-like grille that neatly integrates the radical headlamp units with the innovative Parametric Hidden Lights technology that only reveal the lights when they are turned on. The sharp and wedge-like design language continues to the sides and the new Tucson gets trapezoidal wheel arches with angular surfaces on the sides. The rear of the SUV is also geometric in nature and comes with a wraparound LED tail lamp with split wedges, Hyundai logo integrated with the rear windscreen, silver skid plates and roof-integrated spoiler.

On the inside, the all-new Tucson features a wraparound dashboard with layered but decluttered layout, to which Hyundai refers as INTERFACE design, an integrated surface with a vertically oriented centre fascia with waterfall effect, a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which integrates most of the controls into it, dealing out the need of physical knobs and buttons and a lower instruments display that sits in the same plane as the top of the dashboard fascia.

The new Tucson also highlights features such as 64 configurable colours with brightness adjustment, wireless smartphone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, upgraded Bluelink technology, Hyundai LIVE Services with real-time parking information and fuel station locations, three-zone climate control with Multi-Air Mode technology on the air conditioning etc.

The all-new Hyundai Tucson will be available with three electrified powertrain options and two internal combustion engines with four transmission choices. Depending on the market, the 2021 Tucson will come with 1.6-litre T-GDI Smartstream petrol engine with 150 PS and two-wheel drive, another 180 PS with optional four-wheel drive and 1.6-litre CRDi Smartstream with 136 PS with an optional four-wheel drive. All the above powertrains come with 48 Volt mild-hybrid technology. A plug-in hybrid version of the all-new Tucson with a 1.6-litre T-GDI engine and 265 PS will also be available to customers. More details on the powertrains will be available closer to the launch.

In the Indian market, Hyundai recently launched the 2020 facelift Tucson with prices starting INR 22.30 lakh ex-showroom available in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive variants in petrol and diesel iterations both offered with an automatic gearbox.
