Next-generation Chevrolet Beat coming in 2017

After years of poor sales performance, Chevrolet is now targeting more market share in the Indian market. Apart from a new compact sedan which is expected to hit the streets in 2017, the brand is also working on the next-generation Beat hatchbak.

Although well priced and couple with fuel efficient diesel and petrol engine, the Beat is a slow seller in its segment. The car looks funky, and there is nothing wrong with the overall design, yet the Chevrolet brand has a very low customer pull in India.

While there are no specific details about the next-generation Beat, expect the car to be available in both petrol and diesel engined options just like it is now. Chance are Chevrolet works on the available space a bit more, in sync with what Hyundai offers with the segment benchmark Grand i10.

The Beat was given a facelift in early 2014, but sales have failed to cross the 2,000 units mark in the past six months. A new generation coming in 2017 suggests that the slow selling, current generation model will continue for a good two years more.
