Next-generation Audi cars will be based on the Prologue concept

At the LA Motor Show last week, Audi had revealed the Prologue concept car. With multiple rumours such as this concept could lead to a new Audi A9 luxury sedan, this concept car gives us a brief overview of what the next-generation Audi products could look like.

The new design language will first trickle down to the new A8 which is due for a market debut in 2016. Post that, the next-generation A6 and A7 will also get a similar design language. The new design chief also mentions that the going forward, all Audi cars will have better visual differences. Designs for the new A8, A7 and A6 have already been finalised.

The Prologue concept was seen wearing a single-frame, flat front grille which makes the car look wider at the front. Matrix LED headlamps with adaptive lighting, aluminium and steel body, 22″ multi-spoke rims etc. The concept was also 40m shorter and 70mm lower than the current generation A8. Even the wheelbase was shorter by 50mm. The chassis on the next-generation A8 will also feature a five-link suspension with adjustable ride height.

On the inside, we can see that the concept carried light and airy interior colour scheme with a goo mix of beige, grey and black. Instrument cluster seen was a digital screen and an OLED, touchscreen panel running across the dashboard length. While most of the sci-fi like interior would remain as a concept, the overall design could be carried forward to the production-spec models.
