Next-gen Hyundai i20 caught undisguised

The next-generation Hyundai i20 hatchback, expected to be launched next month, has been spied completely undisguised. With multiple spyshots of the camouflaged car being tested all around the country, these set of pictures put an end to all the speculation on the exterior design.

The new design is way different from the current roundish body shell of the i20. It is very European and has a very toned down fluidic design language. The bonnet is flat and makes the car look wider. Headlamps have been redesigned and are smoked out. The front grille is only on the lower section, which serves as the air dam as well, and is hexagonal in shape. The new car gets just a cut out between the bumper, in line with the headlamps where the Hyundai logo is placed in the centre. Fog lamps are different too, and the hot favourite LED DRLs are not to be seen here.

Side profile of the car makes it look longer than before, mostly because of the sloping roofline and smaller window height. B and C pillars are blackened to give it a slightly sporty look. Crease lines on the waistline of the car look good. From the images uploaded, it seems like this variant is not the top of the line one because it does not get alloy wheels, rear wash and wipe and a request sensor on the door. Rear end is completely different and there is no comparison with the current generation on sale. Tail lamps are elongated and wrap-around units. Tail gate is different too and the rear bumper gets reflectors with the RHS also serving as the reverse lamp. Also, one can notice the parking sensors on the rear bumper.

There is no update on the engines Hyundai will use in the next generation i20, but it won’t be too long till we find out. The launch is just around the corner.
