New Yezdi Roadking could be a 650cc modern classic?

Yezdi recently launched three new motorcycles in the Indian market. The much-awaited brand has introduced the Yezdi Adventure, Scrambler and the Roadster. However, Yezdi also filed patents for the Roadking name at the Indian intellectual property office. This leads us to believe that the brand could be planning to launch another motorcycle in India with that name. But, since Yezdi has introduced all three segments – touring, urban and cruising, the brand could introduce a new modern-classic bike with the Roadking name. Furthermore, we speculate that Yezdi will not use the small capacity 334cc engine, rather it will introduce a new 650cc middleweight engine that will help compete with the Royal Enfield Twins.

Yezdi Roadking

Mahindra-owned Classic Legends has been after resurrecting old school brands such as Jawa, Yezdi and BSA Motorcycles. Yes, Classic Legends also resurrected the BSA Motorcycles brand in the international market. The company also revealed that BSA Motorcycles would not be bringing its products to the Indian market anytime soon. However, the Yezdi brand is likely to borrow the engine from the BSA Goldstar. This will enable the company to compete with the Royal Enfield motorcycles and other brand’s offering modern-classic bikes in the middleweight segment. BSA Motorcycles will also produce the engine here in India which will help the brand keep the prices competitive.

BSA Goldstar Engine Specifications

Powering the Goldstar is a 652cc single-cylinder liquid cooling four-valve DOHC engine. The engine comes with twin spark plugs and an 11.5:1 compression ratio. The brand revealed that the engine would produce 45 Bhp of power and 55 Nm of torque paired to a 5-speed transmission. The engine has been developed in partnership with the Technical University of Graz and conforms to all the latest emission standards. Yezdi is likely to tweak the engine according to its likings, but the power output is likely to remain the same.
