2020 updated Tata Nexon Teased, could it be a DCT automatic?

Tata has teased the new update of the Nexon which is being speculated to come with a new DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission) Automatic gearbox. The new Tata Nexon is expected to be revealed tomorrow (2nd September 2020). The Tata Nexon with the DCT gearbox was earlier reported in March and again in June 2020 and it is speculated that the same DCT gearbox will make it to the turbo-petrol variant of the Altroz.

On the exteriors, the teased model remains identical to the standard Tata Nexon except it comes with a regular roof mounted radio antenna while the standard nexon comes with a shark fin antenna. The updated model is also likely to come with a tri-arrow design on the front air dam, new LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, muscular wheel arches, piano black ORVMs, 16-inch alloy wheels, combination tail lights with LED lighting, etc.

The interior are likely to feature highlights such as  triple-tone interiors, tri-arrow theme upholstery, an island type touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, fully digital instrument cluster, etc.

The Tata Nexon is powered by a BS6 emission compliant 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that produces 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque matched to a 6-speed manual transmission and an option of a 6-speed AMT gearbox. The Nexon also comes with a diesel motor, a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel engine that produces 110 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque available in a 6-speed manual as well as a 6-speed AMT transmission. Both engines are available with three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport.

The Tata Nexon also comes with a 100% fully electric powertrain, aptly called the Nexon EV which is powered by an IP67 standards-compliant Liquid-Cooled Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor coupled to a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion liquid-cooled battery pack that can develop 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque matched to a single-speed transmission.

The Tata Nexon is positioned in the highly contested mid-size SUV segment and competes with the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV300 and the Ford EcoSport.
